How to Attract More Attention with Indoor Signage

1.       Tweak your usual indoor signage with that “something” extra to attract attention.

Great marketing and great marketing results don’t usually happen in a day (as we all know about Rome not being built, well you know the rest; great “remembrance” marketing by the way). That’s why it’s so crucial to protect your name, image and reputation with every impression you make as it can be destroyed in literally minutes; especially with our highly connected society today. But, that is for another story. Here I will reiterate that your marketing is truly built brick by brick, so to speak (and I’m not just saying that because I’m the “Bricks to Clicks Marketing Consultant). But you can get results fast with just a bit of tweaking something you are already doing.

Currently I’m speaking at a certain location in about two weeks. The program director has done much to publicize the event (and I usually do quite a bit behind the scenes to give my events a little push as well). In the lobby of this location is a large sign displaying several posters and some information about the event. This is great because this location has regulars who pass this area every day and sometimes several times in a day; these are the exact people in the target market they want to reach. But, believe it or not, many people will go by this sign and not give it a moment’s notice.

Here’s what I suggested we do.

Have you seen those people out on the road holding (and moving and dancing with) signs saying “50% off”, “Store Closing”, “Grand Opening”? The reason why you “see” them is because they are “out of the usual place”, and “have movement”. To attract the eyes of those whizzing by the sign, I did not suggest “movement” but we could do something out of the ordinary to attract the eye, and here it is.

Attached is a quick picture of what I suggested. I also stated that she did not have to do this, and not to worry that if did, that if she did not do it every day, that it would still work. I did however guarantee that it would get more attention and more butts in the seats, which in turn makes her look good because she will be a success in the eyes of her people. (We all like success and to look good among our peers, right?).

What I requested was for her to use a thick black magic marker and (print) the number of days left before this event (10 days left until, 9 days left until, 8 days left until, etc.) on a sheet of fluorescent paper (bright yellow is good) and use a “fold-over” attached with tape on the top of the existing sign. Then when possible, (daily is best), change it up every day. This will indeed get the "regulars" to stop in their tracks, and take notice!

You see, marketing is not difficult but takes a bit of “standing back” and looking at something that you are already doing with “different eyes”; the eyes of your prospective or current customers! Try this idea today and let me know how it worked for you. My contact information is on the top of every page at my site: www.terscott.com.

Make it a great day!
